Peter and I finished tidying up the far corner of the allotment last Saturday. It was a fine afternoon, although rather windy, but we managed to get the fire going so that we could burn the remains of the old shed which had seen better days. After we had got rid of the debris we decided to create a compost area so that we have somewhere useful to put all the waste as we go through the year.

It has also provided some extra space so we may plant in front if it but we remain undecided about that.

Now begins the job of finalising the planting plans. As well as the gladioli, I have a number of vegetables to fit in.

Vegetables sown so far:

  • Cabbage ‘ Estoril’
  • Kale ‘Darkibor’
  • Cauliflower ‘Soeul’
  • Broccoli ‘Stromboli’
  • Cabbage ‘Tarvoy’
  • Red Cabbage ‘Rookie’
  • Cabbage ‘Surprise’
  • Lettuce ‘Amaze’
  • Lettuce ‘Little Gem’
  • Tomato ‘Strillo’
