Yesterday I attended Ribble Valley Championship Poultry Show. I had the task of judging the egg section. Although the entries were slightly down from last year, there still were about 85 plates shown. Many different egg types were shown including, hen, bantam and waterfowl. Classes for different colours and exhibits of single and groups were scheduled and also classes for egg contents. These classes are generally well supported although the time of year is against it as many birds have stopped laying due to the reduction in light levels.
