This well-established spring show was held on the weekend of the 23rd April at Southport Botantic Gardens. It is a movable feast due to the society only able to have the venue when the school holidays have finished, so this year meant that the show was held later than normal. However, this didn’t stop the benches been filled.

Dianne Mason officiated over the daffodil section.

There were four entries in the Southport Championship Class. Peter Walker from Lytham staged a good set of six to get him first place, which included ‘Altun Ha’, ‘Dailmanach’, ‘Moon shadow’, ‘Crowndale’, ‘Stanway’ and ‘Merlin’. I came a close second followed by Bill Harrison for third.

I was chuffed to win best bloom in show with a bloom of ‘Gay Kybo’ shown in the single double class.
